- English Passive Sentence (Present Tense)
The pattern of English Passive sentence Of Present tense is:
S + AM/IS/ARE + V3(Past Participle)
When the passive sentence is derived from the active one, the object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence, and the subject of the active sentence is changed to be a prepositional phrase using the preposition by and it is palced in the final position of the sentence.
Examples:
1. Active Sentence: - He reads a book.
--Passive Sentence: - A book is read by him.
2. Active Sentence: - John helps Sally.
--Passive Sentence: - Sally is helped by John.
3. Active Sentence: - They do the homework.
--Passive Sentence: - The homework is done by them.
Exercises: Change the following sentences into Passive sentences.
