Used to is used to express past custom. In Indonesian langugae used to means 'dulu'. The pattern is as follows:
Subject + Used to + V (Stem)......
Look at the examples below:
I used to live in Africa.
'Saya dulu tinggal di Afrika'.
She used to be my wife.
'Dia dulu istriku'.
She used to work in Malaysia.
'Dia dulu bekerja di Malaysia'.

- English Passive Sentence using Modal Auxiliary
The pattern of English passive sentence using modal Auxiliaries is as follows:
S + MODAL + BE + VIII (Past Participle)
Modal Auxiliaries: can, could, may, might, must, shall, should, will, would rather, had better
Look at The examples below:
1. a. + (Active) She will send a letter.
---- + (Passive) A letter will be sent by her.
b. - (Active) She will not send a letter.
---- - (Passive) A letter will not be sent by her.
c. ? (Active) will she send a letter ?
---- ? (Passive) will a letter be sent by her ?
2. (active) She must do this homework.
-- (Passive) This homework must be done by her.
3. (Active) John can open this door.
-- (Passive) This door can be opened by John.
Exercises:
A. Change the sentences below into passive.
1. You must do this assignment.
2. John can drive a car.
3. Sally will write a poem.
4. My fother will build a new house.
5. He cannot answer the question.
6. Will sony send the letter?
B. Translate the following passive sentences into English.
1. Pintu ini tidak dapat dibuka.
2. Apakah tugas ini dapat dikerjakan di rumah?
3. Surat ini akan diposkan besok.
4. Laporanmu harus dikumpulkan minggu depan.
5. Dinding ini harus dicat.
