- Passive Sentence (Present Perfect Tense)

The pattern of the passive sentence of present perfect tense is as follows:

S + HAVE/HAS + BEEN + VIII (Past Participle)

Look at the examples below:

1. (active) The people have studied English and French.
-- (passive) English and french have been studied by my sister.

2. (active) She has written a letter.
-- (passive) A letter has been written by her.

3. (active) Someone has broken my window.
-- (passive) My window has been broken by someone.

From the examples above, we know that to make passive sentences from active ones is changing the object of the active sentences to the subject of the passive sentences. The subject of the active sentence is changed to a prepositional phrase using the preposition by. The verb of the active sentence HAS/have + VIII is changed to HAS/HAVE + BEEN + VIII (present participle).
